A core concept in geoscience/physical science research is the concept of transport. We present an ontology design pattern for the notion of transport in the geosciences using natural language coupled with a concept map. The top level concepts of the Transport Pattern are transport entity, transport mechanism, and transport event. These concepts are described in detail, and a brief example is provided to illustrate the usefulness of the pattern. Public Transport Ontology for Passenger Information Retrieval
Passenger information aims at improving the user-friendliness of public transport systems while influencing passenger route choices to satisfy transit user’s travel requirements. The integration of transit information from multiple agencies is a major challenge in implementation of multi-modal passenger information systems. The problem of information sharing is further compounded by the multi-l...
متن کاملA Geo-ontology Design Pattern for Semantic Trajectories
Trajectory data have been used in a variety of studies, including human behavior analysis, transportation management, and wildlife tracking. While each study area introduces a different perspective, they share the need to integrate positioning data with domain-specific information. Semantic annotations are necessary to improve discovery, reuse, and integration of trajectory data from different ...

متن کاملAbstracting and Generalising the Foundational Model Anatomy ( FMA ) Ontology
Motivation: The Foundational Model of Anatomy (FMA) is arguably the largest and most complete ontology of anatomy available. However, its very size makes it difficult to use [1, 2]. Much of its size is due to repetition of identical or very similar features for symmetrical parts, e.g. left and right, proximal, middle, and distal, etc. For many purposes only the parent abstraction is needed. A m...
متن کاملNumerical Modeling of an Innovative Bipolar Plate Design Based on the Leaf Venation Patterns for PEM Fuel Cells
Flow channel design on bipolar plates has a direct effect on Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell performance. It has been found out that the flow field design has a deterministic role on the mass transport and water management, and therefore on the achieved power in PEM Fuel cells. This study concentrates on improvements in the fuel cell performance through optimization of channel dimensio...
